A Story of Healing, Hair, and Homecoming

For much of my life, I was searching for peace — for something that would help me feel whole again. After experiencing a period of deep sadness that lasted for months, I made a decision that changed everything: I no longer wanted to be sad.

I began listening to voices that lifted my spirit, like Abraham Hicks, and devoted myself to learning about self-love. I filled my mind with books, my days with prayer, meditation, and movement, and my heart with the desire to feel better. But the most unexpected source of healing came from something that had always been right with me — my hair.

I made it my mission to understand it, nurture it, and treat it with the same patience and tenderness I was learning to give myself. I studied what made it thrive, how to be gentle with it, and how to feed it — and my body — with clean, natural ingredients. This intentional care brought me home to my soul. Through my hair, I learned how to love myself.

My journey with my hair became a journey with myself. It healed pieces of me that I didn’t even know were broken. Growing up without my mother, who passed when I was just a year and a half old, I never had someone to teach me how to do my hair, what to put in it, or how to see my beauty beyond it. Raised by my father, I learned to figure things out on my own — but for years, I still longed for that nurturing guidance.

Now, after years of research, devotion, and self-healing, I’ve created what I once needed — a path for others to come home to themselves. As a biologist with over a decade of experience studying natural hair growth and a published author of What Is Good Hair?, I’ve dedicated my work to helping others rediscover the love that starts within.
